The
Glass Shower: A Novel
By C. E.
Snyder

Even before landing in America, Nik knew he wouldn't like his new job. Sitting in his cramped airplane seat, he thought about how Americans were loud, rude, and why won't these kids settle
down?
It was going to be a long flight. But the woman. Why is she
crying?
She's so beautiful. Her long, honey-brown hair cascaded down her black trench coat. The single tear dripping down her face pulled a knife through his heart. 'Hey, are you all right?' With a foggy blink, he awoke. The stewardess was preparing for landing, and he needed to prepare for a new life in corporate New York. A new life in which he lived on the twentieth floor. On the twentieth floor, where he had a view of a beautiful
woman with honey-brown hair, trapped in strangely visible room--The Glass Shower.
Sprint through the streets of New York with Nik as he unravels the mystery behind this beautiful woman, his heart wrenching dream, and his eerie new job—none of which are turning out to be what they seem. Will this woman end up being his destiny or is she his worst nightmare?

Saturday, November 24th from 1-3pm Sheila Gamble will be signing her book, The HR Suite at Erie Technical

Picture
How far will one human resource employee go to ensure
the safety of her employees?
When personal and professional lives collide, how does
one defuse the conflicts?
Although just one person, in reality Carla Blackstone
keeps the world spinning—at Erie Technical at least.
Carla Blackstone works in the human resource
department at Erie Technical. Her job, however, is anything but boring. When
employees are having a difficult time, they come to her. Phyllis Jacobs’ husband
won’t stop calling her at work, accusing her of cheating on him. When she
notifies human resources to try to defuse the situation, Carla is placed in the
center of a volatile situation. Does she let Phyllis deal with her husband on
her own?  What happens when he decides to show up at Erie Technical and puts her
and her employees in danger?
A male employee complains that his female supervisor
is sexually harassing him. Does he have a legitimate claim, or is he a
disgruntled employee that has an alternative motive?
An unidentified employee left a message for Carla
indicating drug deals were happening at one of Erie Technical’s west coast
branch offices. As a result, Carla is sent to investigate the accusation. No
one, especially Carla imagined it to be true, nor did she expect to be caught in
the middle of gunfire while there.
On a personal note Carla, thinks she may have found
the right "Guy" but things are not always what they seem.
Join Carla Blackstone in the twists and turns of life
in the HR Suite. This suspenseful novel will have you wondering whether
or not Carla can keep her employees safe, while keeping herself
sane!

About the Author:
Erie Technical?
Sheila Gamble is a native of Erie. She went to Diehl, Roosevelt and then graduated
in 1978 from East High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in
Psychology from Clarion University of PA. She has lived in Pittsburgh,
Washington, DC, San Diego, CA, and now resides in Maryland. She worked in the
Human Resources (HR) field for over 13 years where she held positions as
Specialist, Manager, Director and Vice President, but was unemployed for 2 ½
years. Sheila believes in being proactive and planning for the future (having a
plan B). With that in mind, in October of 2011, she pulled out a manuscript that
she began in 2005 and completed in 2009 where she used her imagination and what
she learned in the Human Resources field and mailed the manuscript to only one
publisher. As a result today she is a published author of a fictional book
titled, “The HR Suite at Erie Technical.”Even though the story takes place in Charlotte, NC, Sheila wanted to get “Erie”in there somehow so she decided to name the company
where the main character works Erie Technical which is the center of the story.
“Have a back-up plan, believe in yourself and always follow your dreams, especially
during trying economic times,” Sheila says.
The story is about how a Human Resource Director deal with twists and turns in her workplace as it relates to violence, betrayal, dating, legalities, sexuality, drug
trafficking, safety and more, coupled with suspense and anticipation.
In addition, she longs to have a personal life of her own. In both cases,
things and people are not always what they seem. Although fiction, this human
resource department could be physically located in any of the office buildings
where you work and these are some of issues that human resource professionals
deal with. How would you or your company deal with some of these situations? Well the only way you can find out is by stopping by one of her scheduled book signings while she is in town and purchase a copy during the pre-release phase of the book. You can find out
more by visiting her website at www.gam-books.comand books (including e-books) can be purchased from the publisher’s website at www.tatepublishing.com
Coming: Stay  tuned for sales at chain outlets and watch for the trailer on your favorite cable network channel in the New Year.

ROCK IN STOCK!

Dan Schell's 9 Years of Rock, which documents the history of rock concerts at the Erie County Fieldhouse, kicks nostalgic ass all over the place. The biggest bands trotted the biggest tours right here through Erieland, and up until Schell's research, it hadn't been documented at all.
For those who know what I'm talking about when I mention the Black &  Blue Tour, the Diary of a Madman Tour, the Heaven & Hell Tour, the Back in Black Tour and etc. will thrill to read through this fine local document. Everybody, Santana, Kiss, Alice Cooper, Blue Oyster Cult, Rush, Triumph, Black Sabbath, Nazareth, AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne,  (gasp) Air Supply, I mean everybody who was anybody played the ECF during the heyday of Rock. I was there! And you can be, again, too, by picking up 9 Years of Rock. It's on the Local shelf! Thanks for hours on the microfilm reader, Mr. Schell. You really brought it all back home.
Keep your eyes on the web page for a book event with Dan Schell, coming this month in the Flagship City Cafe.
